METS-S/NETS-T
Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
Essential Questions:
How does a frog change as it goes through its life cycle?
Objectives:
1) While using technology, students will observe and describe the physical characteristics of a frog as it goes through its life cycle. 2) Students will sequence a Prezi with teachers guidance based on the stages of a frog’s development..
3) Students will tell a story using a set of sequence cards.
Tools and Resources:
1) Computer
2) Program, Prezi
3) Book, From Tadpole to Frog
4) Set of sequence cards (see attached to sub papers)
5) Crayons
Rationale:
As students become more comfortable with technology and software. Students should be able to observe, describe, and sequence events of a frogs life using a Prezi to complete the activity lesson.
Sequence of Activities:
Anticipatory Questions/Activity:
Students will observe and describe the physical characteristics of a frog as it goes through the life cycle by visiting websites with teacher to learn new vocabulary words and learn stages of a frogs development. Ask students; What if you were walking by a pond and you came across some little creatures with tales. Would you know what they were called? What if you went back to see them again, would they still be there?
Body of Lesson Plan: Segment #1
(Artifact: link to real world, website, book, picture, etc.)
Segment #2
(Factual information/Vocab
Includes sample feedback loop)
1) What do baby frogs look like? What are they called? Your right, they are called pollywogs or tadpoles. 2) Are frogs born live or do they hatch from eggs? Eggs are correct! 3) What other animals go through similar life cycles? Humans, butterflies and ladybugs.
2) Students help to create their class Prezi with teachers assistance.
3) Students tell a story using sequence cards.
Segment #4
(Detailed directions on how to complete activity)
1) Read and discuss the book, From Tadpole to Frog. 2) Students will view online links provided above. 3) Students will create their on Prezi with help from teacher. Using key terms and photos to implement 4) Small groups of students will tell a detailed story using sequence cards. Remind groups of the fact that the stages of a frog’s life make a cycle of a circle. Explain to your students that it is important to look at a frog and at any given stage and be able to identify what stages the frog has already been through and what stages it will go through in the future.
